Safety & Health Officer

(New Role)

1. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification

Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification across the workplace. Analyze work areas, processes, and equipment for potential safety risks.

Recommend corrective actions to minimize or eliminate risks.

2. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence

Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety laws and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001). Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and regulatory compliance.

3. Safety Policy and Procedure Implementation

Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.

Ensure all safety protocols are up to date and reflect current regulations.

4. Training and Awareness

Conduct safety training programs and drills (e.g., fire drills, emergency evacuations).

Educate employees on safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Promote a culture of safety and awareness throughout the organization.

5. Incident Reporting and Investigation

Respond to and investigate workplace accidents, injuries, or near misses.

Prepare reports and recommend measures to prevent future incidents.

Work with relevant authorities in case of serious incidents or legal inquiries.

6. Safety Audits and Inspections

Perform regular workplace inspections and safety audits.

Identify unsafe practices or conditions and ensure prompt corrective actions.

Monitor and review effectiveness of safety measures in place.

7. Emergency Preparedness

Develop and implement emergency response plans.

Ensure availability and readiness of first-aid kits, firefighting equipment, and emergency exits.

Coordinate with emergency services when required.

8. Coordination and Communication

Serve as a point of contact between management, employees, and external safety consultants or inspectors. Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to decision-making.

Maintain clear communication on all safety-related matters across departments.

9. Record Keeping and Documentation

Keep detailed records of training sessions, safety meetings, incidents, inspections, and safety reports.

Prepare documentation required for audits and inspections.

10. Continuous Improvement

Stay updated on new safety laws, trends, and technologies.

Recommend improvements to health and safety programs.

Evaluate safety performance through KPIs and adjust strategies accordingly.

11.Others

Understand on the requirements for a QMS, including documented information, planning and determining process interactions.

Undertake any other duties as assigned by the superior or Head of Department (HOD) from time to time.
