Deliver professional nursing care to patients in an outpatient infusion setting under physician guidance. This role involves mentoring and training new staff and students, performing nursing acts within the scope defined by licensing boards, and demonstrating the skills necessary to meet unit and departmental competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient needs and maintain comprehensive care plans.
- Promote patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care.
- Administer and evaluate medications accurately and timely.
- Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of care, including disease processes, symptom and pain management, and end-of-life signs when appropriate.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation following organizational policies.
- Observe and report changes in patients' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions.
- Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
- Adhere to privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure in a compact state required. BLS/CPR certification required within 30 days of hire or by orientation end. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, or AWHONN may be required depending on department policy.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar clinical environment is preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Strong nursing principles application, effective communication, computer literacy, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy work occasionally exerting up to 100 lbs and frequently up to 20 lbs. Standing or walking 51-75% of the workday.
