Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.<br><br></strong>Assists public and provides information to address complaints, questions and concerns from public and others regarding assessments, tax codes, rules and regulations; resolves questions, investigates issues and communicates with clients as necessary.<br><br>Researches property tax laws, rules, regulations, and legal descriptions of property; recommends improvements to increase quality of office programs and services.<br><br>Maintains records and files associated with assessment systems and related transactions.<br><br>Enter real & personal property assessed values.<br><br>Generate Real & Personal property Assessment Notices.<br><br>Perform other duties as assigned.<br><br>Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.<br><br>Knowledge of computer hardware and assessment software applications.<br><br>Knowledge of the principles and practices of classification of property and personal tax.<br><br>Knowledge of the principles and practices of appraisal techniques.<br><br>Skill in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying Borough Tax Policies and Procedures.<br><br>Associates Degree and/or 4 years of work experience.<br><br>Two years of assessment, appeals and property tax experience.<br><br>Proficient in the Inupiat Language.<br><br>Ability to obtain an Alaska Driver's License that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria within the six month probationary period .<br><br><strong>THE NORTH SLOPE BOROUGH IS AN ALCOHOL AND DRUG FREE WORKPLACE.<br><br></strong>This Job Description reflects North Slope Borough's best effort to describe the essential functions and qualifications of the job described.
