Glenwood Center - AL, part of Genesis HealthCare, is seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department in delivering exceptional post-acute, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long-term care services. In this key leadership role, you will oversee all clinical operations for the nursing team, ensuring that every patient and resident receives safe, high-quality, and compassionate care consistent with Genesis HealthCare’s standards and mission to improve the lives of those we serve. The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing clear clinical direction, mentorship, and support to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

The DON is a visible clinical leader who engages regularly with patients, residents, and families to communicate care plans, respond to concerns, and support positive outcomes and satisfaction. The Director of Nursing will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal Genesis HealthCare policies and clinical protocols.
You will maintain survey readiness at all times, lead responses to regulatory surveys and audits, and develop and execute corrective action plans as needed. A significant component of the position is driving quality improvement initiatives, monitoring clinical outcomes, reviewing incident and infection-control data, and implementing evidence-based practices to promote safety, reduce rehospitalizations, and enhance overall quality of care. Operational leadership of the nursing department includes managing staffing levels and schedules based on census and acuity, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, conducting performance evaluations, and promoting ongoing education and role-based skill enhancement.
You will collaborate with administrative and clinical leaders on budgeting and resource allocation to ensure appropriate supplies, equipment, and staff mix while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
