Role & responsibilities
The role focuses on the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies to optimize power distribution, load balancing, and control system integration while ensuring safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
This position also oversees the alignment of the thermal plant with a 300 MW renewable energy integration, addressing electrical challenges like grid outages, fluctuating loads, and ensuring operational continuity for the smelter.
Job Brief
Conduct a detailed feasibility study of E&I; systems to integrate renewable energy, thermal power, and smelter load requirements.
Assess technical and financial viability, ensuring operational reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Lead electrical system design, including power distribution, substation layout, and control schemes.
Review and refine instrumentation designs, ensuring system integration with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLC, and SCADA systems.
Prepare detailed drawings, including cable routing, transformers, switchgear, and instrumentation.
Coordinate across disciplines to align civil, mechanical, and E&I; requirements.
Develop and manage project timelines covering electrical and instrumentation milestones.
Ensure alignment with procurement schedules and timely submission of engineering deliverables.
Identify cost-saving opportunities in equipment design and procurement.
Evaluate the lifecycle cost of E&I; systems and recommend energy-effective equipment.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and control systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
Prepare installation checklists and ensure a smooth transition to operational readiness.
Supervise the commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring system reliability and adherence to performance standards.
Integrate the 300 MW renewable energy supply into the smelters power system
Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Review technical bids and vendor documents for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Prepare, review, and maintain all project documentation, including electrical and instrumentation drawings and commissioning reports.
Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met, and obtain necessary clearances.
Preferred candidate profile
Proven expertise in designing and commissioning electrical systems, including HV and LV networks.
Experience with instrumentation and control systems, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA integration.
Strong background in electrical equipment sizing, selection, and load flow analysis.
Familiarity with lifecycle costing and energy-efficient equipment selection.
Project management experience, including schedule tracking and vendor management.
Understanding of Grid regulatory standards and Laws which shall be applicable during Contract demand management/Increase.
Understanding of Grid regulatory standards and Laws which shall be applicable during GNA application for drawl of 300 MW on RTC basis.
Understanding of Grid regulatory standards and Laws which shall be applicable during computation of energy charges for RE import and CD import
