Job Description:

  • Provide remote Portuguese↔English interpretation, primarily over-the-phone (OPI).
  • Bridge communication gaps and provide reliable, unbiased, and empathetic interpretation.
  • Deliver courteous, accurate, and professional interpretation services.
  • Interpret medical terminology and healthcare-related conversations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA-compliant communication.
  • Complete onboarding assessments, live evaluations, background checks, and sign contracting paperwork.
  • Submit required documentation (resume, certifications, English proficiency PDF).

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Portuguese.
  • A dedication to delivering courteous, accurate, and professional interpretation services.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience as Over-the-Phone Interpreter (OPI) (preferred, not required).
  • Achieve a “technical proficiency” rating (level 3 or higher on the ILR scale) on English Proficiency Test.
  • Successfully pass a live mock interpretation evaluation.
  • Pass a Medical Terminology Assessment covering medical terms, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Pass background check and security screening.
  • Sign an Independent Contractor Agreement and confidentiality commitment (including HIPAA compliance).
  • Submit resume and any relevant certifications (PDF certificates requested, not screenshots).
  • Have a dedicated home office space to work remotely.
  • Have a reliable high-speed internet connection.
  • Have noise-canceling headphones for clear communication.
